Advancing our musical mission

The Lancaster Handbell Ensemble is pleased to provide a significant college scholarship available to rising university juniors and seniors who have graduated from a Fairfield County High School and are actively pursuing a degree in music.

Components to include in your application package


  1. Completed scholarship application.
  2. College transcript from most recent grading period.
  3. Applicant letter that includes response to the following items:
    Introduction of yourself to the committee. 
    Why are you applying for this scholarship?
    How do you plan to use your music degree?
    Goal statement of where you want to be in your music experience/career in five and ten years.
    Who influenced your musical expertise the most and why?
    What community and school musical activity do you participate in currently?
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation (*) from your former high school music directors and/or your current university professors. The reference should outline why the applicant is an appropriate recipient of the LHE Scholarship. 
    *NOTE: The recommendation letters can be submitted directly to the address provided or as part of the applicant’s submission. However, it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure reference/recommendation letters are received by the selection committee point of contact by the due date.


Scholarship Rules

  • The scholarship committee consists of board members who will evaluate each application package.

  • The committee or the LHE Board reserve the right to not award the scholarship if applicants don’t meet the selection criteria identified by LHE.

  • Failure to follow the application process or incomplete submission of material can result in your application not being considered for the LHE scholarship.
  • The planned scholarship is $2,000.00. It will be awarded all to one or split between two qualified applicants at the scholarship committee’s discretion.

    APPLICATION DEADLINE: MIDNIGHT November 15, 2025.
